Wedding at The Wellesley

WOW what a wedding! This weekend we held our first wedding for 50 guests in our rustic Wiltshire skittle alley, which made a fantastic alternative wedding venue. Lois and Colin, the bride and groom wanted an unpretentious traditional country wedding and decided on hiring our skittle alley as their wedding venue. The two newlyweds were keen to decorate the room themselves so by using white Mexican bunting, large Mr & Mrs wording, our jute bunting, candles and so on, thoughtfully positioned around the room, they very much made it their own special event. With many of the wedding guests travelling from afar, Colin wanted them to enjoy and experience the traditional Wiltshire game of skittles, and this certainly added to the fun and frolics of the day.  It was important to the newlyweds that we created a fresh fruit punch cocktail for guests to enjoy on arrival, this went down amazingly well and so did the additional shot of Prosecco that their guests could add to the punch! From the start the couple wanted woodfired pizzas to feed their hungry guests throughout the celebration so hired our very own funky pizza box (a 50 year old converted horse box) which truly added to the relaxed and informal country wedding vibe. We made sure that we had the skittle alley bar fully stocked with freshly tapped ales, ciders, lager and our full wine and champagne selection. We used a mix of our tables and chairs positioned around the room, and outside in the courtyard, creating a relaxed and informal feel. With using some of our vintage wooden trestle tables their guests had ample space to sit down, eat and chat comfortably throughout the afternoon and evening. We added natural touches to the bar and the tables by adding large and small vases filled with greenery, hessian table runners and we raided our garden and the hedgerows creating that wonderful vintage country look. Wedding guests said what a wonderful wedding venue it was, set in the stunning village of Sutton Benger close to junction 17 of the M4 motorway, Chippenham, Wiltshire.
